The official list of the Open 13 Provence 2023 has just been released! The world's tennis elite is expected to take to the courts of the Palais des Sports in Marseille to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the tournament.
Indeed, 7 players from the Top 30 in the world (including 6 former Top 10), a three-time Grand Slam winner and the best French players will meet in the South of France to try to win this edition which will already remain in the annals!
Starting with one of last season's revelations, Denmark's Holger Rune, who recently triumphed at the Rolex Paris Masters against Novak Djokovic. Will the 19-year-old assume his new status as a favourite after being a rising star in international tennis?
The draw will be completed by Hubert Hurkacz, world number 11. The Polish player, usually very consistent in tournaments, is a player to watch closely since his remarkable semi-final at Wimbledon in 2021. This will be his third participation in the Open 13 Provence.
Jannik Sinner, on the other hand, wants to forget his last minute withdrawal in 2022 because of the COVID-19 and will come with the same intention as on every tournament: to go as far as possible! The Italian is currently ranked 16th in the world and reached the semi-finals in Adelaide a few weeks ago. He will obviously be counted on this year, as he has just had one of the best seasons of his career by reaching the quarter-finals of three Grand Slam tournaments.
A surprise semi-finalist at the US Open last year and still in contention at the Australian Open, Karen Khachanov will be back on the Marseille courts after his last visit two years ago. The winner of the tournament five years ago, he is a formidable indoor player who should be followed with the utmost attention.
This high-flying sports line-up will be completed by the Australian Alex de Minaur, a player who is capable of thwarting the predictions of every tournament. At the beginning of the month, he even had the luxury of taking out the king Rafael Nadal. After a huge season in 2022 with 47 victories, the 23-year-old will travel to Marseille to assume his status.
Stan Wawrinka, a three-time Grand Slam winner and guest of the tournament (wild card), will also be present at the Open 13 Provence 2023! The Swiss, whose last season was complicated by repeated injuries, wants to reach the top again, as he has been chasing a new title for the past five years. After being knocked out in five sets in the first round of the Australian Open, he will try to find his rhythm again, and who knows? the top!
The Frenchies!
Like every year, the Open 13 Provence promises to be exciting. But perhaps even more so this year for the 30th anniversary and with the arrival of the best French players! A tournament that has been successful for them with 9 victories in 30 editions.
We will find Richard Gasquet in the front row, who has just won the title in Auckland.
Now back to being the French number 1 at 36, "Ritchie" will try to confirm his great form in front of his public.
Gaël Monfils will also be there, having had to put an end to the second half of his season due to repeated injuries. His return to the highest level will require a good performance at the Open 13 Provence.
Benjamin Bonzi, Grégoire Barrere, Ugo Humbert and Arthur Rinderknech will also be following, completing an exceptional sporting line-up to celebrate together
the 30th anniversary of the tournament!
