The Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech had a great performance in the first round of the Open 13 Provence. Facing Mikhail Kukushkin, finalist of the event in 2019, Rinderknech shook but did not give in. The native of Gassin dropped the first set, notably because of a poor first ball percentage. But the 1.96m tall Frenchman was able to turn the tide in the next two sets, thanks to a service that was finally found. Rinderknech, ranked 138th in the world and coming from the qualifiers, finally won 1-6 6-3 6-2 (1h25). In the next round, he will face Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, seeded 8th.
