It was a close call for Benjamin Bonzi. The Frenchman, who was awarded one of the 3 wild cards of the tournament, was leading 6-3 5-3 against the Australian qualifier Matthew Ebden. Bonzi was only 4 points short but, as is often the case, these were the 4 most difficult. And as is often the case, when opportunities are missed in tennis, regrets and remorse often haunt the player... Ebden managed to equalise at 1 set to 1, winning the tie break of the 2nd set. The last set was then a formality for the Australian who won 3-6 7-6 6-3 in 2h26.
