Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert has qualified for the second round of the Provence 2021 Open 13, defeating Japan's Kei Nishikori 6-1 6-4 after 1 hour and 10 minutes of play.
In the first set, the Frenchman "played with fire" as they say and did not let his opponent settle. It is true that the latter did not exactly have the necessary response for such a match. The Japanese woke up in the second set, but it was too late. Pierre-Hugues Herbert had no intention of playing a third set.
To reach the quarter-finals, Herbert will now have to defeat either Constant Lestienne, who came through the qualifiers, or Britain's Cameron Norrie. The answer is Wednesday!
