Four qualifiers and one lucky loser in the draw

Norbert Gombos, Egor Gerasimov, Ilya Ivashka and Dennis Novak are the four qualifiers of this 28th edition. Despite his defeat, Emil Ruusuvuori enters the draw as a lucky loser.

We now know the four qualifiers who entered the final table of the tournament on Monday. Norbert Gombos is a regular in the Marseille qualifiers. Since 2014, when he first participated, this year was his fifth attempt. And as in 2017 and 2018, the Slovakian reached the final table, despite a good resistance from the young Niçois Elliot Benchetrit. Three years ago, Gombos (102nd) reached the quarter-finals. In the first round, he will face the Italian Jannik Sinner.

In 2019, Egor Gerasimov also made it into the Marseilles draw after qualifying. However, he lost in the first round to Fernando Verdasco. The 27-year-old Belarusian (ranked 72nd) will face Dennis Novak, another qualifier, in the first round. The Austrian, who defeated Germany's Mathias Bachinger, is playing in the Open 13 Provence for the first time in his career.

Ivashka against Cilic in the first round!

In addition to Gerasimov's qualification, Belarus was also in the spotlight on Monday at the Palais des Sports, with Ilya Ivashka's victory over Australian Alexei Popyrin. The Minsk native is no stranger to Marseille where he created a surprise in 2018 by reaching the last four. He then lost to Lucas Pouille. This time, in the first round, he will have his work cut out against Marin Cilic.

Finally, Emil Ruusuvuori benefited from Filip Krajinovic's withdrawal and enters the draw as a lucky loser. He will face Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the first round.
